与朔马珞的“因缘”——访朔马珞公司亚洲销售副总裁Mr.Kevin Day

        随着地坪应用领域的扩大,混凝土地坪选材、快速施工及工程验收已提上日程。地坪市场的多样化,也让地坪施工由表面走向整体,由底板基层上升到面层。世界知名混凝土整平机制造企业朔马珞公司针对各种类型混凝土/地坪承包商的不同需求,提供了各类不同的激光整平机设备,同时积极为开拓未来中国市场而努力。

 

本刊记者:Mr. Kevin Day 您好!感谢您在百忙中接受《中国地坪》的采访,请您简单介绍一下您的职业经历?

The reporter: Hi Mr. Kevin Day! Thank you for making your time in accepting the interview of “China Floor”. Please briefly introduce your working experience and background?

Mr. Kevin Day : 过去的24年中,我一直在建筑施工机械生产及销售行业工作。而这段工作经历对我本人来说具有非常重要的意义。

Mr. Kevin Day : I have spent the better part of the past 24 years in the construction equipment manufacturing and distribution business.

        在过去的工作经历中,我有很长时间都在Multiquip (MQ)公司工作,担任全球混凝土与石料产品总监。MQ是一家生产轻型建筑设备与混凝土相关产品的企业。4年前,我加入朔马珞公司担任亚洲销售副总裁,负责中国市场的业务开拓。

        I spent much of my career with MQ an industry leader in light construction equipment and concrete related products as Director of Concrete & Masonry Products worldwide. For the past 4 years I have worked for Somero Enterprises as Vice President of Sales Asia primarily focused on the China market.

本刊记者:您从事了这么多年的混凝土相关领域工作,请问您是怎样和混凝土结缘的?

The reporter: Since you've been working in this concrete-related industry for such a long time, how do you first get yourself connected with this industry?

Mr. Kevin Day : 17年前,我做出了个人职业上的一个重大决定,加入混凝土泵送、浇筑、收光与切缝相关的混凝土施工行业。我认为这是一个幸运的抉择,因为我立即对优质混凝土浇筑施工工艺产生了浓厚的兴趣,并乐于同承包商一起并肩合作。与想要完成优质混凝土施工的客户一起工作并为他们提供能保障其成功的合适机械设备,充满了无穷的乐趣。在中国我已经好几次体验到了这种合作共赢所带来的愉悦及其意想不到的回报。

Mr. Kevin Day : 17 years ago a career decision moved me to the concrete construction industry focusing on the pumping, placing, finishing and cutting concrete. I believe this was a stroke of luck as I immediately became passionate with the process of installing quality concrete and the contractors we were working with. There is a lot of pleasure in working with a customer who truly wants to install the very best concrete work and making certain that we provide them with the right equipment to be successful. I have had this exact pleasure on a number of occasions here in China and it is extremely rewarding.

本刊记者:在美国有很多混凝土及与其相关的企业,为什么您会选择朔马珞?作为一家混凝土整平机制造企业您觉得朔马珞能给您带来什么,您又能为朔马珞创造什么?

The reporter: There are a lot of concrete business related enterprises, and why would you choose to work in Somero? As a concrete leveling machinery manufacturer, what do you think Somero can provide you, and what you could bring to Somero?

Mr. Kevin Day : 这个问题很好。我与购买了朔马珞激光整平机的同一家施工商并肩合作了12年多,并向他们提供了收光设备。我一直将朔马珞公司视为销售并生产优质混凝土施工设备的企业,并向往能加入他们成为其中的一员。所以,当朔马珞公司向我抛出橄榄枝,问我是否有兴趣帮助他们拓展在亚洲地区(尤其是中国市场)的业务时,我毫不犹豫地立即接受了他们的提议。

Mr. Kevin Day : This is a great question. I had worked side by side with Somero providing the finishing equipment to the same contractors Somero sold Laser Screeds to for the better part of 12 years. I always admired Somero as a sales organization and manufacturer of high quality equipment. So when Somero asked if I would be interested in helping them expand their presence in Asia and most specifically China I didn't have to think twice about accepting the position.

        Somero provides a unique mix of highly innovative equipment while sincerely being passionate about the success of our customer base. At Somero we don't simply provide equipment but most of our employees are industry people who have a lot of knowledge that we can pass along to our customer base. Somero provides ongoing training on the installation of high quality floors in addition to the Laser Screeds we produce.

本刊记者:中国的国情与美国有所不同,在朔马珞刚进入中国市场时,您遇到过哪些困难?之后又是如何带领团队一起来解决问题直到成功的?

The reporter: Since the national situations differ a lot in China as compared with in the States, what kind of difficulties have you met with when Somero first came into the China market? How did you solve the problem together with your team and make it successful?

Mr. Kevin Day : 在美国,混凝土水平地面的标准与规范严明,也正是因为对优质混凝土地坪的需求,才促使并不断推动着朔马珞公司业务的发展壮大。当公司进入中国市场的时候,我们发现国内的标准与规定尚不严明、规范,用于水平混凝土地面的施工方法也不及美国先进。这对业务的开发拓展来说带来了一定的挑战,因为我们需要将先进的水平混凝土地面施工方法引进到国内,实现国际先进的混凝土整平设备在国内的销售。

Mr. Kevin Day : In The States horizontal concrete floor standards and specifications are very strict and it was the requirement for high quality concrete floors that helped drive and continues to drive Somero's business. When we came to China we found that the standards and specifications were not as strict as in The States and the methods used to install horizontal concrete floors were not as advanced as used in the USA. This presented a challenge as we had to introduce the modern methods of horizontal concrete construction to help sell the most advanced concrete leveling equipment in the world.

        我非常幸运地于3年前遇到了中国地坪协会的领导,我很快了解到地坪协会的宗旨竟然与朔马珞公司非常地接近,在提高会员单位施工质量的同时,帮助项目承包商获取最大的利益空间。在过去的三年间,我们一直致力于为中国地坪协会提供各方面的支持,为其会员单位提供具有良好平整度混凝土地面找平所需的创新型设备,以及大面积整体混凝土地坪浇筑施工的现代工艺方法。朔马珞致力于为中国地坪协会的会员单位搭建起与经验丰富的混凝土地坪施工商、行业协会之间的沟通桥梁,提供各种技术文献资料,帮助提高混凝土地坪施工的品质。

        I was fortunate to meet the leader of the CFA roughly three years ago and I quickly learned that the CFA's goals were similar to that of Somero Enterprises which is to help contractors maximize their earnings opportunities while working towards improving the quality of the work conducted by its members. In the past three years we have strived to support the efforts of CFA and provide its membership with the most innovative equipment for installing flat and level concrete floors while training and educating its membership on the modern methods of wide placement concrete floors. Somero is committed to provide CFA members with access to knowledgeable and experienced concrete flooring contractors, industry associations and documentation to help improve the quality of installed concrete floors.

        我们真诚地相信,如果中国采纳全球混凝土地坪行业铺面接受的标准与规范,这将会迅速提升国内在建水平混凝土地面的品质。大面积整体浇筑的混凝土地坪理念在国内仍然是新生事物,但发展非常迅速。我相信,我们会向广大客户及客户的客户,即业主和承包商证明。高品质的水平混凝土地面是可以通过先进的混凝土浇筑与收光设备和成熟的施工工艺方法来达成的。通过向所有人传达并演示这些信息与方法,这必定会成为一种对所有人来说的“多赢”局面。

        We sincerely believe that if China adopts standards and specifications accepted by much of the rest of the worldwide concrete flooring industry this will immediately improve the quality of the horizontal concrete floors placed in China. The concept of wide placement concrete floors is still relatively new to China but it is growing quickly. I believe we are proving not only to our customers that high quality horizontal concrete floors can be installed through using the most modern concrete placing and finishing equipment and proven construction methods but also to their customers the building owners and operators. By communicating this to everyone and showing it can be done it will be a win-win for everyone.

本刊记者:朔马珞的产品相比中国本土的同类产品在价格上贵了很多,对此朔马珞的产品将从哪些方面来吸引客户?

The reporter: As the price of Somero Products is higher that some local brands, what are the ways you use to develop and keep your customers?

Mr. Kevin Day : 我们依靠的是高品质的设备产品和人。朔马珞26年前发明了全球第一台激光整平机,我们将持续提升我们的原有发明。在朔马珞,我们只专注于生产激光整平机设备以及指导混凝土承包商如何通过使用我们的产品而获得成功。我们不会因为过分关注其他业务而忽略了现有的客户群体。

Mr. Kevin Day : By providing the highest quality of equipment and people. Somero invented the Laser Screed more than 26 years ago and we continue to improve on our original invention. At Somero we only produce Laser Screeds and teach contractors how to be successful with the products we produce. We are not distracted by trying to be too many things to our customer base.

        此外,朔马珞只招募懂得关注于客户成功的优质人才。我们比全球任何其他业内的制造商都熟悉混凝土整平设备,我们熟悉混凝土大面积整体浇筑的施工理念。我们绝大部分的员工在加入朔马珞大家庭前都具备相关行业背景,其中很多人还在混凝土地坪行业中工作过多年。对于那些没有行业背景的员工,我们为他们提供全面的培训计划,确保他们在面对客户前,能够掌握帮助客户解决实际问题的能力。我们为自己能成为混凝土地坪领域的解决方案提供者而感到自豪,因为我们切实为客户所取得的成功而感到欢欣鼓舞。

        Additionally, Somero only hires the highest quality individuals who are focused on the success of our customers. We know concrete leveling equipment better than any other manufacturer in the world and we know the concept of wide placement concrete construction. Most of our employees are industry experienced and many worked in the horizontal concrete flooring industry before coming to Somero. For those people we hire who are not from our industry we have an extensive training program designed to make certain our team members are capable of helping our customers before we ever put them in front of a customer. We are proud to be solution providers to our customers because we are passionate about their success.

本刊记者:对于朔马珞未来在中国市场的发展您和您的团队有什么设想?

The reporter: What are your plans and thoughts for the future growth of Somero in China?

Mr. Kevin Day : 朔马珞会继续投入人力和资源,加大力度进一步开发中国市场。去年,我们搬入了位于上海西郊青浦区的全新办公楼,拥有了自己的办公与仓储场所。这也能让我们更好地为客户提供产品库存和后续的售后客服支持。

Mr. Kevin Day : Somero will continue to expand our presence in the Chinese market with people and resources. Late last year we moved into a new facility in the western district of Qingpu, in Shanghai with offices and warehousing. This allows us to be better positioned to support our customers with inventory and after sales customer support.

本刊记者:朔马珞一直在为中国地坪材料分会与美国的相关行业协会交流牵线搭桥,未来朔马珞将如何继续保持与中国的行业组织及企业之间的互动?

The reporter: Somero has been working hard to connect China Floor Association of CBMF with some US associations, how will you keep on the interactions with Chinese industrial associations and companies in future?

Mr. Kevin Day : 朔马珞对世界各地混凝土地坪承包商的成功,具有非常重要的影响,而这在中国也是相同的。在朔马珞,我们拥有同世界各地混凝土地坪承包商非常良好、广泛的合作关系。我们将继续通过中国地坪协会,把这些国际承包商企业的经验推广到中国并让他们加入到中国地坪协会的大家庭中来。这些朔马珞的国际伙伴都非常乐意,也对能够拥有向中国地坪承包商展示他们用于全球优质混凝土地坪施工工艺的机会而感到十分振奋。

Mr. Kevin Day : Somero has been instrumental to the success of concrete flooring contractors around the world and this is no different in China. At Somero we have many relationships with the very best concrete flooring contractors around the world. We will continue to bring many of these contractors to China through the CFA making them available to the membership. These friends of Somero are pleased and excited about the opportunity to show Chinese flooring contractors the processes and procedures they use to install the very best concrete floors in the world.

        Somero is a member of many industry associations around the world. We believe that as a member of an organization we should contribute to that organization and this means we must understand the purpose and direction of the organization. We sincerely believe in what the CFA is working to provide to its membership. As we have recently shown through personal introductions to the American Society of Concrete Contractors (ASCC) and information from the American Concrete Institute we are committee to the membership of the CFA to bring knowledge, experience and insight to what is being done in other parts of the world.

        今年10月朔马珞与中国地坪协会为大家呈现了一场理论与实际演示相结合,旨在介绍F数据标准的大面积混凝土整体浇筑施工演示及高峰论坛。朔马珞和中国地坪协会一起邀请到了全球最出色的混凝土地坪承包商及欧美资深行业顾问前来参加本次活动。这次活动的成功举行也预示中国地坪协会今后针对所有会员单位开展培训研讨会、高峰论坛等一系列活动的序幕的拉开。

        In October of this year Somero and the CFA have presented both theoretical and practical application of F number standards through the concept of wide placement construction. Somero and the CFA have worked to bring some of the very best concrete flooring contractors and consultants from the USA and UK to help present this information. This is only the beginning of we expect to be a large volume of training seminars and summits for the CFA membership.
